Blessings of the Sun

You know the old saying... "You learn something new every day..."

Well today, I learned that there is a rare occurrence celebrated by Jews throughout the world. Once every 28 years, the Sun is in the exact position it was when it was created. The celebration is called Birkat Hachama.

The Los Angeles Times reports,

"On the fourth day of creation -- a Wednesday -- God made the sun, the moon and the stars. Today, precisely 5,769 years later, according to Jewish tradition, Jews in Los Angeles and around the world will mark the occasion by reciting a rare outdoor blessing."

So if you get a chance, take a look at the sun by 12:55 pm and say a prayer of thanksgiving to God for the blessings of the Sun. Our world would not exist without the power of the Sun.

The actual blessing is: "Blessed are You, LORD, our God, King of the Universe who makes the works of Creation."

Have a great day!! :)
