Done... (for now!)

Well, the workers have left the house and it's looking good! Of course, there are still a few things I want to eventually do (does it EVER end???) But, I'm happy with the overall look and it is so much fresher and more modern looking with painted walls instead of wallpaper!!

I'm just too tired to post pics tonight, but will try to do that this weekend.

YAY!!! for having the house back to myself and being able to walk on regular floors instead of plastic and paper!! :)

YIKES!!!

I can't believe I had the workers tackle updating all three bathrooms at the same time. I don't know how I am going to get ready for work tomorrow morning... No lights and with paper, plastic and tape and spackle (sp?) over EVERYTHING!

UGH!!! Should have thought this through a little more carefully...

Getting it together...

It's starting to feel like home and I can begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Luis and his crew are coming to take down the wallpaper in all the bathrooms today. There are a few other minor repair items that he is making, like adding an electrical outlet by the telephone (the prior owner had an "old style" phone that did not require electricity.) I'm also having the desk delivered in the formal living room and having the locks replaced today. I will feel so much better knowing all these things are taken care of before I go back to work. :)

Here are a few pics from the house. Can't wait for everyone to come see it!

Whew... Survived the Day!

There were some moments that I wasn't quite sure, but we survived the day. It was touch and go on whether we would close in time for me to keep the moving schedule I had so carefully crafted. We still have one little piece of business to finish first thing tomorrow morning, but the title company and realtors don't think it will affect my actual move. YAY!!! The packing process was pretty intense today. There are boxes all over the house and empty closets (which are very rare in my life!) :)

It will be a pretty long day tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to getting there and starting the unpacking process!

Tomorrow is a big day... one way or the other!

I was supposed to close on the sale of my house tomorrow morning at 8:30 am. However, the lender for the young couple buying my house (which happens to be my own bank) has failed to get the appropriate paperwork to the title company on time. So... I am just praying that I am able to close sometime tomorrow so I don't have to reschedule all the appointments I've made for utilities, cable, deliveries, movers, etc. It's gonna be a mess if that happens. UGH... So, I'm trying to stay focused on the positive and hoping that we are able to close on both houses tomorrow and all will proceed as planned.

Keep me in your prayers, OK??

Have an awesome week, everyone!! I'm on vacation for a few days!! :)

Crazy 24-hours!

That's my house underneath the tree!!

This is my front door and the "tree archway!" :)

It's been a crazy day... Last night about 8:30 pm, my dad and I were sitting at the kitchen table talking when we heard a really LOUD noise that sounded like our house was being invaded. The house even seemed to shake. It was the scariest noise. I didn't quite know what to do... Everything seemed to be in tact and the doors were locked, but when I looked out the study window, I saw my front yard was filled with a big tree. In fact, it covered my sidewalk in front of my front door, so I had to duck to get out of the house.

My neighbor's beautiful red oak tree had split at the base and one-third of the tree landed on my house. Fortunately, the "bark was worse than the bite" and I don't think there was major damage to the house, but it was quite traumatic. About the same time, the electricity went out in our neighborhood and it didn't come back on until about noon-ish today. So, needless to say, it was really DARK, really QUIET and started getting quite chilly in the house by morning. And... my cell phone juice was nearly out, so this morning, I had to go out to my car and sit in the car to charge my phone. :)

During this time though, I was able to contact my insurance agent; I contacted my realtor (since I'm supposed to close on Tuesday and the final walk-through is on Monday, I needed to let them know); I found a tree guy to give me an estimate and fortunately, they were able to remove it from my house and chop it up for the city to haul it away this afternoon; and finally, I was able to finding a roofing guy that could give me an estimate and will make the repairs on Monday. WHEW! I certainly didn't get bored today!!

I also cleaned out the freezer and created my calendar for the next week. It's going to be busy but fun (assuming the buyers don't back out on purchasing my house!) YIKES... just the thought of that and having the reverse all the utilities and deliveries I have scheduled next week gives me the shivers!!!!!!

Keep me in your prayers this week, y'all! :)

Taxes filed!!

I'm so excited to get this annual task behind me. That was one of my main goals for the weekend. I also got the TV and Internet service scheduled for installation at the new house and my post office change of address taken care of. I'm ticking things off my "to do" list... one by one!

12 days til the big move...

TIme is really flying now. I am so excited for the next couple of weeks... just hope I can get all my regular work done at the office so I can focus on the move when I'm on vacation.

By the way... I love my office... It's truly such a nice place to be. :)
